3/12/2015 2:45 PM This past Friday, several Jumbo athletes competed in the Tufts Final Qualifying Meet. The meet was highlighted by the performance of junior stud Veer Bhalla as he ran 1:53.01 in the 800 meter run. This performance put him #7 in the nation for the event. With his time, he helped punch his ticket to the DIII Indoor National Championships held this weekend in Winston-Salem, NC. Bhalla will square off against teammate and close friend Mitchell Black at DIII’s as Black has already qualified in the 800 and will be racing in the event this weekend.

3/5/2015 11:23 AM This weekend, a handful of Jumbos competed in the All-New England Championship Meet held at Boston University. Although small in number, there were stellar performances all across the board.

On Friday, the team raced a solid distance medley relay. The relay comprised of freshman Sam Little on the 1200 leg, freshman Chris Gregory on the 400 leg, senior Sam Garfield on the 800 leg, and senior captain Marshall Pagano anchoring the 1600 leg. The team of Little, Gregory, Garfield and Pagano ran a season best time of 10:20.33 and placed 14th overall. 2/25/2015 3:38 PM This past weekend, the Jumbos competed in the Division III New England Championships held at Springfield College. The team posted some promising times as they competed in their first championship meet of the season.

The meet started off with Allan Yau and Alex Karys competing on Friday in the heptathlon. Over the two-day seven-event marathon, Yau notched numerous PRs or season bests to put together one of the strongest performances of the meet, finishing in 4th place with 4,236 points.

2/16/2015 8:45 PM This Saturday, the Jumbos braved the blizzard conditions as they traveled to Boston University to compete in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational. The squad was eager to perform on arguably the fastest indoor track in America.

The highlight of the day came from junior stud Mitchell Black in the 800m. In a field that included some of Division I’s best and several professionals, Black was able to break 1:50 for the first time in his career, as he placed fifth overall in 1:49.16. Black’s performance earned him the top time in the nation among Division III athletes this season so far. Additionally, Mitchell’s time is the fourth fasted recorded 800m time in Divison III history.

2/10/2015 11:50 AM This past weekend, the Jumbos competed in their third home meet of the season as they hosted the Tufts Cupid Challenge. There were a lot of impressive performances across all event groups.

The meet was highlighted by the outstanding performances of the mid-distance squad. Junior Veer Bhalla won the 800 in 1:53.90 which now ranks him nationally in the top 10 for all DIII runners in that event. Though Bhalla bested the field, he looks forward to even improving on that time further in hopes of qualifying for DIII Indoor National Championships.
