Gojumbos: Home of Men’s Cross Country and Track & Field at Tufts University
11/15/2015 8:29 PM This weekend the Jumbos competed at the DIII Regional Championship held at Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford, CT. The squad ran undoubtably their best race of the season from top to bottom. The team’s stellar performance earned them a third place finish and an at-large bid to DIII Nationals.

Junior Luke O’Connor continued his phenomenal season finishing third overall individually with a time of 24:43. He finished less than four seconds behind the winner, Mohamed Hussein from Amherst. Junior Tim Nichols was close behind finishing sixth overall in 24:55. Both Luke and Tim spent a good amount of time leading the race. They did a fantastic job of getting into a rhythm and keeping the pace honest over the course of the 8k. The ju...
11/9/2015 12:25 PM On Saturday a select group of Jumbos competed at the ECAC Championships held at the challenging course at Mt. Greylock High School in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

The top finisher for the Jumbos was freshman Dylan Jones. Dylan was seventh overall in a time of 26:59. Dylan’s classmate Matt McDermott finished in 27:08 for fourteenth place. Both Dylan and Matt earned All-ECAC honors, and they were the first rookie pair to finish within the top 15 in over ten years. The last time we had two All-ECAC Jumbo freshmen was in 2003 when Justin Chung, Peter Orth, and Daniel Jones earned 10th, 11th, and 15th respectively. Dylan's seventh place finish was the highest by a Jumbo rookie in online record and the best in at least 15 years. Aside fro...
11/2/2015 9:17 PM On Saturday the Jumbos competed in the NESCAC Championships held at Wesleyan University and placed third in the team standings. In doing so, we beat five teams that have been ranked in the top 35 nationally this season. While we still have room to improve over the next weeks, across the board our team ran exceptionally well.

Juniors Tim Nichols and Luke O’Connor led the way for the squad placing 5th and 6th overall with times of 25:08 and 25:10. Both Tim and Luke were first-team All-NESCAC, and they were the first Jumbo duo to earn that honor since 2008. Tim's 5th place finish was actually the best finish by a Jumbo since Matt Rand's runner-up performance in 2012. Both Tim and Luke’s respective times were well ahead of the top Jumbo ...
10/19/2015 10:34 AM On Saturday, most of the squad competed in the Connecticut College Invitational held at Harkness State Park in Waterford, Conn. Although most of our NESCAC team did not race, the meet proved to be extremely exciting as many Jumbos had their best races of the season.

The first finisher for the team was sophomore Ty Enos in a time of 25:55, closing in a 5:04 last mile that demonstrates there’s more in the tank for our championship season. This was almost a 30 second PR for Ty and it marked the first time that he ever broke 26 minutes for the 8k. Fellow sophomore John Greenberg finished second for the Jumbos running 26:33 for another huge PR. In perhaps his smartest XC race yet as a Jumbo, John ran over a minute faster than last year to...
10/12/2015 11:15 AM On Saturday the Jumbos competed in the Open New England Championships held at Franklin Park in Boston. The team ran exceptionally well all across the board. Junior Luke O’Connor led the way finishing sixth overall for the squad with a blazing time of 24:45.95. Not only was Luke the second fastest DIII finisher in his race, but his time was the fifth fastest ever for a Jumbo at Franklin Park. Luke earned himself a spot on the list ahead of XC All-American Matt Rand and 3-time XC All-American Jesse Faller. Luke’s classmate Tim Nichols was the teams second finisher, placing fifteenth overall in 25:11.67. For Luke and Tim to place in the top 15 is the best Jumbo duo since 2005 when our top finishers were 5th and 15th.
