Senior Captain Skip Pagel posted a national qualifying mark of 6332 points at the Tufts Last Second Decathlon this past weekend. It was a season best for Pagel as he improved his current national ranking from 12th to 6th. Meanwhile, James Wheeler qualified for New Englands with his 5374 points. A pair of Jumbos ventured south to Princeton, NJ to compete in the Friday night Distance Carnival of the Larry Ellis Invitational. Juniors Jesse Faller and Nick Welch, both national qualifiers for the indoor 5,000m, both came away from the evenings races with sizable season bests. In Fallers case, it was even a PR. The Jumbos took on a list of competition from all divisions this weekend at Stonehill’s 2nd Annual Skyhawk Invitational. Teams from across Massachusetts were forced to bundle up as spotty rain showers, cold temperatures, and windy conditions affected performances across the board. Early in the day, sophomore Jerzy Eisenberg-Guyot paced himself through 10,000 meters in 33:52.
