The Jumbos returned to Williams College this past weekend to compete at the ECAC Championships on the same course that they ran at NESCACs. The Jumbos' six through twelve runners competed, as the top five rested for the upcoming weeks. In much better weather conditions, Tufts finished 10th out of 37 teams, despite two of their runners having to battle ailments during the race. Though the course was hilly and challenging, many of the runners ran their best times since the flat UMASS Dartmouth meet.

Finishing first for the Jumbos and 36th overall was freshman Jerzy Eisenberg-Guyot in a time of 27:37. Jerzy was followed closely by classmate Jeffrey Ragazzini, who crossed in a time of 27:51. Third for the Jumbos was senior Matt Alander, who ran an impressive 28:06 in the final race of his TUXC career. Sophomore Ryan
Lena and freshman Andrew Bellet rounded out the scoring five finishing in 70th and 86th, respectively. The final Jumbo across the line was sophomore Billy Hale, who
finished in 28:51, despite being tripped in the first 800m and having to stop to reattach his spike. Junior Dave Tilton, one of the ECAC squad's top runners, was forced to drop out from the race after dealing with nausea before and during the race.

Overall, the Jumbos performed very strongly. The race provided very valuable championship experience for some of the team's younger athletes. Next week, the team will compete in New London, CT, at the New England Regional Championships in hopes of grabbing a spot to the NCAA Division III National Championships at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN.
