The Jumbos competed at a six-team meet at Boston University on Thursday evening, with strong performances across all event groups.

Junior Jamie Norton had a breakthrough race to win the men's mile. His time of 4:10.48 was a PR of over eight seconds and gave him the victory over a very strong field of Division 1 and 2 athletes. At the time, Norton’s time was the fastest in Division 3.

Dan Lange-Vagle picked up a win in the 200m, with a time of 22.36. Vinnie Lee also ran under 23 seconds and the pair are two of the fastest sprinters in the region currently. Gbola Ajayi tallied up a third win for the Jumbos, in the triple jump.

Junior Andrew Osborne and Senior Kyle Marks won their heats in the 60m and mile, respectively, each improving or matching their lifetime bests just a few weeks into the season. Mike Blair, meanwhile, chopped off over 0.4 seconds from his 60m hurdles time and throwers Curtis Yancy and Brian Williamson started off their seasons very well in the weight throw and shot put.

Senior Matt Rand posted an impressive 8:53 in the 3K given he was diagnosed with mono less than 24 hours later. The Jumbos will be back at BU for the Terrier Invitational on Saturday, January 26th looking to keep the momentum going and have some more great performances at this track.
