After a tense week of scheduling changes, the Jumbos landed at Fitchburg State University and, with 167 points, came away with a commanding win.

Among a flurry of season bests, one event in particular stood out. In the long jump, freshman Bryson Hoover Hankerson got out to 6.46m for a PR and third place overall. At 6.82m, senior Gbola Ajayi grabbed second at 6.82m, with junior Andrew Osborne in fourth at 6.34m. Junior Ned DeLeo rounded out the squad in fifth at 6.32m.

In the pole vault, senior captain Brad Nakanishi got up over 4.55m for a season best, and Tufts put three in the top 8 of the discus in Curtis Yancy (43.44m), Brian Williamson (41.21m), and Adam Aronson (37.18m). Yancy, a senior captain, also grabbed second in the hammer in 51.38m with Andre Figueroa in fourth at 50.14m. Matt Johnson grabbed the Jumbos' only victory with his winning throw of 55.69.

On the track, sophomore Marshall Pagano put up a season best of 9:44.67 in the 3000m Steeplechase. Joe Poupard also edged closer to the 10-minute barrier with a PR of 10:11.14. Sophomore Joseph St. Pierre grabbed second place in the 1500m in 4:05.16, his fastest mark of the year. Tufts had three more scorers in James Traester (4:07.90), Brian McLaughlin (4:08.21), and Liam Cassidy (4:09.76). The 4x100m relay put together three good handoffs to win in 42.61. In the 800m, freshman Alex Apostolides made an excellent move with 300m to go to dip under two minutes at 1:59.11. Senior Vinnie Lee ran well to get under 23 in the 200m at 22.91.

Next week, the Jumbos host the NESCAC Championships at Ellis Oval, where they look to win an outright conference title for the first time since 1991.
