For their final regular season meet of the year, the Jumbos traveled to Connecticut College to compete against teams from the New England, Atlantic, and Great Lakes region. Resting their top twelve runners in preparation for our conference meet, Tufts had eight men suit up for the race. Six of them ran season-best times, with the other two running their second-fastest races of the year.

Colin McCrory ’15 led the way for the Jumbos, cracking the top fifty in a time of 26:43. Classmate Sam Garfield crossed the line just two spots behind in 26:45, twenty seconds faster than he ran at the same meet last year. Both times represented season personal best times for the juniors. Michael Curley ’16 and Joe St. Pierre ’15 also ran season-best performances, cutting off 24 and 21 seconds from their fastest times earlier in the season.

A trio of cross-country rookies ran season PRs or were within seconds of doing so; Michael Caughron ’17 and Bobby McLaughlin ’17 ran times of 27:48 and 27:03, respectively, while 800 meter All-American Mitchell Black ’16 competed in the first cross-country meet of his career with an opener of 27:22. While Black ran in his first ever cross-country race at Connecticut College, Peter Lewis ’14 ran in his final 8K as a Jumbo, as the senior crossed the line in his second-fastest time of the year.

The men will return to Connecticut College to compete at the NESCAC championships on Saturday, November 2nd. The women run at Noon, with the men racing at 1 PM.
