The Jumbos made the short trip to MIT this weekend for the DIII New England Championships. With many athletes resting after NESCACs, the squad was smaller but still left with many All-Region performances.

The meet started off with the decathletes competing over two days in their ten events, with both senior Allan Yau and freshman Peter Clark notching lifetime bests for the multi competition. Yau earned All-New England honors with his eighth-place finish, and Clark impressively PR'ed in his first-ever championship multi meet. Senior Alex Karys had a tough high jump, but will be back in action the following week at the Open New England Championship.

Fridays PRs kept coming in the distance and jumps group, as junior Bryson Hoover-Hankerson launched a 6.70m effort in the long jump to place him in the top ten all-time at Tufts and sophomore Michael Caughron improved by almost a full minute in the 10K to run a 32:36 and sniff the scoring places at his first championship track meet. Caughron was actually able to record two PRs on the day, as his second 5K in the middle of his 10K was also faster than any open 5K he had run previously.

Senior co-captain Brian Williamson threw a lifetime PR in the hammer to score points for the squad and also place himself in the conversation for NCAAs. Fellow co-captain Marshall Pagano similarly finished in scoring position to earn an All-New England distinction in the 3000m steeplechase.

Juniors James Traester and Francis Goins rounded out the individual scorers, as Traester in the 5K and Goins in the 400m both continued to drop time from their season-best performances at NESCACs last week. The 4x800m relay finished the day with an All-New England mark, as freshman Ty Enos opened the relay with a 1:55 split to set freshman Tom DePalma, junior Alex Apostolidis, and senior Joe St. Pierre in scoring position.

The Jumbos will return to MIT this weekend for another championship meet, with the decathlon again taking place on Thursday-Friday and field events and prelims beginning on Friday, May 8th.
