On Day 1 of New Englands, Tufts sent 5 Pentathletes to MIT to attempt to secure a lead going into Day 2. Senior Lionel Yarmon, sophomores Nathan Scott and Jeremy Arak, and freshmen Fielding Pagel and James Bradley represented the Jumbos at MIT.

When the dust cleared, Scott ended up with the single best pentathlon in Tufts history, taking second place with a score of 3415. Bradley took fourth place with a score of 3044, setting collegiate bests in 4 out of the 5 events. Arak rounded out the Tufts scoring, taking 6th place with 2943 points. Chris Orr from Trinity won the event with a score of 3461, while William's Joe Song rounded out the top 3 with a 3060.

The rest of the team will join the multis at MIT on Saturday for the remaining events, and will try to take advantage of the 6-point advantage over Trinity and 10-point advantage over Williams to take the Division III New England title.
