Tufts 11th at All New England Championships

The Jumbos went up against Division I powerhouses this weekend in the All New England Championship at Boston University. Where last weekend was approached with a Team success mentality this weekend was all about individual performances as the Jumbos tried to get as many members over national qualification marks as possible.

Senior Trevor Williams led the charge on Friday with a solid 49.59 in the 400m shaving time off his PR. The 800m followed suit as the Jumbos had three athletes entered. Pat Mahoney qualified for finals with a 1:54.9 taking second in his heat. Caught off guard by the quickness of the opening pace Mahoney went into Saturday ready and took nearly a second off his time with a national qualifying time of 1:54.02 and 7th place finish. Dan Sullivan and Nate Cleveland also ran the 800m but failed to move on to finals with times of 1:57.17 and 1:58.85 respectively.

Chad Uy had a breakout day on Saturday in the 3000m run. Shattering his PR with a time of 8:52.67. In the 5k Josh Kennedy, Matt Lacey and Chris Kantos worked together in a field of 27 people to take 6th, 17th, and ninth respectively.

On Saturday the 4 x 400m team made up of Nathan Scott, Will Forde, Nate Cleveland and Trevor Williams posted a blistering 3:19.91. Hand time splits had Trevor well below 49 seconds, Will Forde sub 50 and Nate and Nate both solidly below 51 seconds.

Fred Jones continued on his path of success when he matched number the number one long jump of 7.09 meters, but took second in the event due because his second best jump was below that of Umass Amherst's Erik Hoagland. Jones also had a strong day on the triple jump when he took fourth with a leap 14.31m. Dan Marcy took 8th with a jump of 13.71m
