PRs All Around at Plansky 6k

It was a day of PR\'s and school records for the Jumbos at the Plansky Invitational this weekend. Every Jumbo set a 6k PR this weekend while senior Dave Sorensen set the Tufts Cross Country 6k record. Granted it was the first time the Jumbo men have ever ventured into a 6k race. Regardless of that fact, the harriers of Tufts showed their true colors this weekend as they battled at the nine-team meet. The meet was dominated by Williams, MIT and Tufts as the three teams claimed each of the first 29 finishes.

Tufts faired very well in their first 6k, putting their front four in the top 11 places. Sorensen led the way for the 2nd consecutive weekend with his 5th place finish and time of 19:20. Sorensen hasn\'t looked back since redefining himself as one of the nation\'s most dominant steeplechasers last spring. He continues to gain strength and confidence with each race this fall.

Right on his six was sophomore Jesse Faller taking 6th place in 19:21. Jesse also underwent some redefinition last spring when he became the region\'s top freshmen miler. He continues to do a fantastic job parlaying that spring into a very respectable cross season. Nick Welch (So) and Greg Pallotta (Fr) finished 9th and 11th respectively only 10 seconds back on the others. Junior David Tilton had a strong race completing the scoring 5 with a time of 20:34.

Tilton was followed closely by a pack of Jumbos including freshmen Jeff Ragazzini and Jerzy Eisenberg-Guyot as well as sophomore Ryan Lena. Freshman Andrew Bellet continued his season long improvements crossing the line just under the 21:00 mark. We said after last week\'s Open New England\'s finish that you would see a much different Tufts team flow through the finish chute once the weather became more conducive to racing. This weekend\'s fall weather proved that hypothesis correct. It was a much stronger Tufts team that toed the line this weekend at the Plansky Invitational. Now having seen the terrain of the Williams course, the team can best prepare itself for the next two championships races as Williams hosts both the NESCAC and ECAC Championships. The Jumbos have next weekend off as they prepare for the 2007 NESCAC championships in two weeks.
