Faller 8th at Nationals!

This past Saturday represented both the end of the 2009 Tufts Cross Country campaign as well as the career of the most decorated Tufts XC runner in school history. After finishing 4th at the New England Championships, Jesse Faller qualified individually for his 3rd consecutive National Championship. And after a grueling battle over the 8k course, he added his 3rd consecutive XC All American honor.

With the womens race going off first, the men had the advantage of seeing how the course would possibly play out. It quickly became evident that the soft, muddy course made for minimal movement after the first mile/2k of racing. Much to be expected. This had little effect on Fallers race strategy of never being out of contact with the lead pack, other than solidifying it.

After a few final strides, the athletes lined up on the two starting lines (it was a split start) with Faller on the far left of the left hand side starting line
